All About Great Lakes Outdoors
Great Lakes
Outdoors, now in its 17th year, is a half-hour television program seen weekly on 14 PBS
stations in Michigan and 1,266 cable systems throughout Canada, a potential audience of
5.5 million. GREAT LAKES OUTDOORS tapes 39 new episodes a year along with 13 repeats and
is one of the only outdoor shows that runs 52 weeks a year. Ratings vary weekly, but GREAT
LAKES OUTDOORS is consistently among the most viewed programs at all its PBS outlets.
Each week, GREAT LAKES OUTDOORS presents timely outdoor entertainment and education
featuring outdoor and charitable organizations, sports and show business celebrities,
local and national hunting and fishing experts, and authorities on conservation, nature
and environmental concerns.
Rob Trott, veteran outdoors writer, editor and television personality, is host and
executive producer of all GREAT LAKES OUTDOORS functions. A long time member of both the
Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) and the Michigan Outdoor Writers Association
(MOWA), Trott was named Safari Club International's Outdoor Writer of the year in 1991 and
served as 1992 National Trout King. Through his efforts, GREAT LAKES OUTDOORS has earned
honors in the esteemed Mort Neff Awards competition for seven of the last nine years,
including both first and second place in 1991.
Videographer and co-host Susie Sherrill joined the show nine years ago and has added an
exciting new dimension. Susie has proven she's not just another pretty face, as she
handles a bow, rifle and shotgun nearly as well as she handles the camera. Since joining
the show Susie has taken several record book trophies including a Gold Medal Red Stag and
Fallow deer from the North Island of New Zealand. She also loves to fish for salmon,
bluegill and bass. Susie has added a whole new following to the show; ladies that like to
hunt and fish. Susie is a welcome addition to the GREAT LAKES OUTDOORS crew and a real
workhorse.
Rob and Susie make a number of public appearances and enjoy talking about the outdoors and
some of their many exciting adventures through out the world. If your club, group or
organization is interested in having us speak at your event please give us a call or
