Dinner---December 31, 2007 We all know how devastating cancer can be, not only physically
but also emotionally and financially. Many of you have seen the effect with your
own family and friends. Susie Sherrill-Trott was diagnosed with Hodgkin's
Lymphoma back in August of 2006. Susie underwent intensive chemo and radiation treatments
and in February of 2007 the cancer was in remission. Unfortunately, on September
11th , 2007 Susie's cancer showed back up. Susie had a bone marrow transplant on
November 28, 2007 and although weak she is back home. Her own stem cells were
harvested from her blood which which were then frozen and used to complete the
bone marrow transplant. Susie's recovery will be from 6-12 months. She is a
strong lady who is determined to beat this nasty disease, To help ease the
financial strain we are planning a "Hugs For Susie" Benefit Dinner on
Saturday January 19th at the Western Wayne County Conservation Association
located at 6700 Napier Road, Plymouth, MI. This will be a buffet dinner,
with lots of raffles and card drawings as well as a live auction. Many great
outdoor items including rifles, bows, fishing and hunting trips and taxidermy
will be up for grabs! All proceeds go to Susie Sherrill-Trott. Tickets are
$30.00 per person with a cash bar. Doors open at 6 PM and dinner starts at
6:30 PM. To order tickets or make a donation please make checks out to
Susie Sherrill-Trott and send to: Rob Trott, 425 White Road, Columbiaville, MI
48421. You can also call me at 810-793-6369 or email at rob@greatlakesoutdoorstv.com.
This event will be a complete sell out with 275 people. Currently less than 100
seats remain, so act fast. Hope to see you all there. Susie's Home From The
Hospital---December 11, 2007 Susie arrived home from the hospital where she recently
underwent a bone marrow transplant for her Hodgkin's Lymphoma. We spent nearly
20 days at the U of M in Ann Arbor. They indeed have some of the best doctors
and health care in the world there. Although she is very weak yet and has
a long way to go ,she is home and that is the first step. It will be awhile yet
before we see her shining face and bubbly personality back on the screen but, as
they say the show will go on. I will keep you updated as often as I can. Please
continue all of your many prayers for her complete cure of cancer. You may send
your cards and letters to Susie Sherrill- Trott, 425 White Road, Columbiaville,
MI 48421. In the meantime have a safe and glorious holiday. Please keep in mind
the real reason for the season, the birth of baby Jesus in a manger so
very long ago. Happy holidays all! Update On Susie And Big
Buck Nite---November 7, 2007 I would like to update everyone on Susie's battle with Cancer.
Back in August Susie's cancer showed back up. You may remember she had a year
long battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The same lymphoma showed back up in her
chest, only this time much smaller than the first time. She has been through
another two regiments of chemotherapy and it has shrunk even more. However,
because it came back again to be safe and have the best chance of getting rid of
it totally she has decided to go through a bone marrow transplant at the U
of M hospital in Ann Arbor. For the past three days the nurses and doctors
in Ann Arbor have been harvesting stem cells out of Susie's blood which they
will freeze now and later after more treatment put back into Susie to complete
the transplant with her own cells. Today we found out that they had collected
and harvested 4.16 million stem cells from Susie! Their goal was to harvest 3
million so as you can see she did spectacular! Susie came home today all fired
up about a short reprieve for the first four days of rifle season at our yearly
camp in Curran, MI. On November 21, Susie will be admitted into the U of M
hospital for more treatment and the bone marrow transplant. This process will
take 21-30 days in which time Susie and I will both be at the hospital. She
should be out before Christmas and on her way to a total recovery. Susie's
recovery time will take approximately 6 months to a year. We will have a laptop
there so I can keep up on our emails. Many prayers have been said for
Susie over the last months and we ask that everyone keep praying for her. We all
know that prayer cures all and has no barriers. With God's powerful healing
hands and all of you wonderful friends and loyal viewers WE WILL BEAT THIS NASTY
DISEASE!! Please be patient with us during this time. We have chosen some
of our favorite adventures from the past to entertain you on Great Lakes
Outdoors while we are going through our latest bump in the road. You can expect
to see caribou hunts, hunting in Africa and more of our favorite hunts. We
have also decided with all this going on that we must CANCEL this year's BIG
BUCK NITE which was scheduled for Saturday December 8th. So we ask
for your understanding on this. However, in all fairness we could not
concentrate on all the work it takes to put this production on and make it the
fun event that it has become. Rest assured that next year we will have our Big
Buck Nite once again. Great Lakes Outdoors will be back taping new shows again
in the blink of an eye and promise that we have no intentions of going anywhere.
So please keep praying for Susie and her family. I will keep you all updated as
much as I can. By the way for all of you that have been asking, YES, Susie
and I got married in a pond side wedding at our house on August 4th. It was a
most beautiful wedding with many family and friends present. And of course
outside amongst nature. Is there any other way? Next Two Shows---October

excellent course and one that I've put each one of my Brittany's through. They
all have been outstanding bird dogs and I credit Preston's classes for pointing
them all in the right direction. You can call Preston or Pat at 810-346-3672 for

Pheasant Hunters. New Show Sponsors Are
Needed Now---April 3, 2007 We are currently looking for several new sponsors for the
television show. Like most small companies in Michigan we have been struggling
to keep our heads above water. With the rising costs of production and the
recent loss of long time sponsor, Ameristep due to a slumping economy, we need
the support of 2 or 3 new sponsors ASAP. If you are interested or know a company
who may be please get a hold of either Rob or Susie at 810-793-6369. Great Lakes
Outdoors has been on the air for 19 years and we would like to continue for many
more. You can also email me at rob@greatlakesoutdoorstv.com

All---December 16, 2006 Susie and I along with the rest of the staff here at Great
Lakes Outdoors want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous
and Happy New Year. Susie has responded very well to her Chemo treatments and as
I write this she has two treatments left!! Her lymphoma has all but disappeared.
Her last chemo is January 2nd. From there she will get Radiation treatments. As
of yet we do not know how many or for what length of time. However, she is doing
great and that's what the power of prayer can do. We thank the literally
thousands of you that have been praying for Susie. If you think prayer doesn't
work, think again! God bless you all. Our Christmas and New Year is bright. Take
a moment this Christmas to remember what the season is all about, the birth of
baby Jesus in a manger far, far away. Merry Christmas to all ! Big Buck Nite 2006 Is
Already Done And In The Can---December 16, 2006 The 2006 Big Buck Nite has already been taped and we are in
the process of putting all three of those shows together. Some of you have been
calling to enter your buck in the show. The deadline was December 4th. We had
many very nice bucks again this year including a whole show of young people
between the ages of 12-17. That was my highlight of this year's shows. Our young
hunters are the future of our great sport of hunting! Anyway, the shows will air
the first three weeks of January, times and day depending on which PBS station
you watch. Be sure and catch them to see alot of nice bucks and some good
stories as well. Update On Northeast
Michigan Sportsman's Show-----November 29,2006 To avoid any confusion, Susie and I will not be attending the
Northeast Michigan Sportsman's Show at the Onaway High School on December 1-3.
Due to Susie's recent and on going treatments for cancer the board of directors
of the Presque Isle County Tourism Council felt it necessary to relieve us of
any obligation's for the 2006 show. This decision was made on October 30th and
sent to us via email by Executive Director Kammie Dennis. Up until that time we
were hoping to have been able to be there and were basically playing it by ear
with Susie. However, I personally had planned on attending with a 90 percent
chance of that happening. We have noticed and been made aware of the fact that
we are still listed in some of the recent advertising (after October
30)and as late as November 26, as being there as the MC's. I have no idea why
this advertising has continued. We have always enjoyed this show and hope that
this clears up any questions as to why we weren't there. Happy Holidays to all! Kids In Chemo & Update
On Susie-----November 12, 2006 Many viewers have been asking how to get a hold of The Kids In Chemo group.
They can be reached at 248-887-1013. Cathy Mckim is the person to talk to. Susie
is half way through her Chemo and doing alright. She has her good days and bad
ones. But, that is to be expected with the chemo treatments. She is planning on
going deer hunting. Let's hope she can make it! It's a time that all hunters
look forward to all season. Susie and I both thank all of you who have sent
cards and e-mails to Susie. It has helped cheer her up on many different
occasions. I have always said that Sportspeople are a special group who really
stick together and help each other through anything. Once again that has held
true. It has been hectic around here as you can imagine. However, we have been
able to keep everything going along here at GLO and expect no interruptions in
our schedule of taping shows. May you all have a wonderful deer season and enjoy
each others company. Big Buck Nite Rules
& How To Enter-----November 12, 2006 Many hunters are calling on how to enter a big buck for Big Buck Nite. Send a
picture along with a story on how you got the buck with all information, County
taken, number of points and score if you had it scored. Also any other
information that was unique. Send it to Great Lakes Outdoors, 425 White Road,
Columbiaville, MI 48421. DO NOT E-Mail Pictures. We need a hard copy. We
will pick the top 30 bucks to be on Big Buck Nite which will be taped on
December 9th at the Lapeer County Sportsmen's Club. You can also email us at rob@greatlakesoutdoorstv.com.
with your information only. But then you would still have to send us a picture
by mail. The final date to get a hold of us is December 4th. Be sure to enter
your big buck today!! Hope to see you there!! No Emmy but International
Award Takes Its Place-----June 21, 2006 Although we didn't win an Emmy at the June 17th Awards
Presentation we were still nominated and were in the final three. We were beat
by a piece that Gary Ewell, my co-writer of a "Tribute to Katie" wrote and Susie
edited. The piece was "Wright's Little Gem" and was seen on WFUM in
Flint. So in a sense we beat ourselves. However we found out on June 19
that the same story, " A Tribute To Katie" was awarded Third Place in
an International Competition. The show earned a prestigious Excellence In Craft
award from the Outdoor Writers Association of America at OWAA's annual
conference in Lake Charles, Louisiana, June 18. The Third place finish came in
the Outdoor Related Essays, TV category, recognizing excellence in essay
writing. Headquartered in Missoula, Montana, OWAA is an international outdoor
communicators' association with 1,200 members who are professional writers,
editors, photographers, artists, video and TV producers, book authors and
lecturers. The organization was founded in 1927 and counts among its members
some of the best outdoor communicators in the world. It's been a lot of fun
being first nominated for an Emmy and then winning this coveted award. Lets hope
it just keeps on rolling for me and the staff here at GLO. Great Lakes Outdoors
Nominated For An Emmy-----June 8,2006 On May 17th Rob Trott and co-writer Gary Ewell both from
Columbiaville, MI were nominated for a prestigious Emmy Award for their writing

buck scored 219.6 N/T. Also it becomes the 4th biggest N/T ever taken in the
state by any weapon, surpassed only by Paul Mickey's buck which scored 238.2,
Jon West's 231.1 and Carl Runyan's 227.6.These three were all taken with a gun

really enjoy being a part of it. However, sadly, each year we lose a couple of youngsters
to the deadly disease called cancer. We have a special close to this show that Susie
worked long and hard on. If it doesn't touch your soul than you don't have one. Please
help out by giving to this very worthy charity. You can donate by contacting Cathy Mckim
at 248-887-1013 or by e-mail at pknmc5@hotmail.com
